Old Skinners Society Annual Dinner, Saturday 24th September 2011

I have attended all of these OSS Dinners except one since I joined the Staff of the School in 1970. This excellent event is now held at the School and we have a pre-dinner drinks gathering in the Old School Hall, which brings back memories to all who gather and chat. A short stroll down to the Dining Hall glancing across at the magnificent embryonic Sports Hall, past the Leopard Building, the Beeby Building in sight and the 'State of the Art' Thomson Theatre in the old Byng Hall also bring back memories and pride in the achievements made by the School and the way it is moving forward.

Eighty-four of us sat down to enjoy a delightful three course meal, several interesting speeches and the traditional singing with gusto of the Leopards' Song. The Dining Hall filled with conversation of all sorts, new contacts made, old friends re-united, teachers in awe of the achievements of their pupils, many of this year's Prefects attending their first OSS Dinner and an all-round great evening. The Leopard of the Year Award was presented by Chris Utting, our President this year, to Nick Knowles, the TV personality, for his outstanding achievements. Nick was called overseas on an assignment and could not get to the Dinner so I received it for him and forwarded the trophy.

I urge you to think about coming next year with perhaps a table of six or more from your year group to come and catch up with a short pre-drinks School Tour organised by Prefects and I assure you there will be no disappointment.
